April 22, 2025 | Events
At MOSIP Connect 2025, Bhutan NDI was represented by Mr. Anand Acharya, Project Manager, and Mr. Tshendu Gyeltshen, Senior Backend Developer. The event, held in the Philippines, brought together global experts, policymakers, and technologists to advance the dialogue on secure, inclusive, and interoperable digital identity systems.
Organized by the Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP), the event highlighted how digital public infrastructure is being shaped through collaboration, innovation, and emerging technologies. With more than 129 million digital identities issued across 26 countries, MOSIP is playing a critical role in enabling digital transformation worldwide.
On the first day, Anand participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “Verifiable Credentials: Pixie Dust for User Data,” alongside leading experts from OpenID Foundation, FIDES, and the OpenWallet Foundation. The session explored how verifiable credentials are becoming a foundational element for privacy, trust, and seamless service delivery.
The Bhutan NDI team also joined an unconference session on Day 2, contributing to discussions on designing identity systems that are inclusive, equitable, and scalable. The dialogue emphasized the importance of addressing practical challenges in the development of digital public infrastructure.
On the final day, participants engaged in two key workshops:
“Ensuring Inclusion Through Digital Public Infrastructure Using DPGs,” led by UNDP, and “Inji: Enabling Seamless Verifiable Credential Issuance,” led by the MOSIP technical team.
These sessions provided deep insights into the technical and policy frameworks necessary for inclusive digital identity ecosystems.
Bhutan’s participation in MOSIP Connect 2025 reflects the country’s continued commitment to building a secure and trusted digital identity infrastructure. Through global partnerships and innovation, the Bhutan NDI Platform is playing an important role in shaping the future of digital public services in the country.
