Druk Holding & Investments (DHI) is playing a key role in the ongoing National Startup Weekend (NSUW) 2025, reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Bhutan. In collaboration with the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE), Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment; Druk Holding and Investments Ltd; GovTech Agency, and other stakeholders, the Startup Community Bootcamp (SCB) and NSUW 2025 are designed to strengthen Bhutan’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. These events provide aspiring entrepreneurs with an immersive experience in startup life and business creation.

As part of its innovation strategy to support the National Innovation Ecosystem, DHI has not only provided financial support but has also extended institutional support through its InnoTech Department, for the event. The SCB and NSUW 2025 bring together industry experts, mentors, and speakers from Bhutan and abroad, including professionals from Techstars and Aim Ventures. Over 170 participants are engaged in this four-day event, gaining the skills and knowledge needed to build successful tech startups.

As one of the key contributors to the discussion at the event, DHI CEO Ujjwal Deep Dahal highlighted how Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) provides a unique platform for innovation and collaboration across sectors like biotech, agritech, fintech, and green energy, enabling entrepreneurs to ideate and create new products and services that drive economic growth and improve life in Bhutan.

He also highlighted the government’s role in facilitating a thriving startup ecosystem. His insights stress the importance of collaboration and a supportive environment to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Bhutan.

Through collaborative efforts and strategic initiatives, these events are paving the way for Bhutanese startups to thrive, driving economic growth and technological advancement.
