Hydropower and Beyond
Energy
Hydropower
The country has over 30,000 MW of hydropower potential of which only 2500 MW has been harnessed. A further 2000 MW is in an advanced stage of development. Other potential projects are at various stages of study.
Green Hydrogen
With different types of Hydrogen with various environmental effects, we are studying Green Hydrogen for Bhutan as it has low environmental effects. The Green Hydrogen adds further value to the vast hydropower in the country and can be used in various ways like power storage, steel production, transportation and more.
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is known for not just its electricity generation but its direct applications as well. Due to its versatility, we are studying the feasibility of using geothermal energy in Bhutan for various purposes, like space heating, agriculture, and more.
